Kevin Costner Mortgages Property to Fund Ambitious Four-Part Western Series, Premieres First Installment at Cannes
Costner premiered his film Horizon: An American Saga at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday night, aspiring to create a four-part series despite uncertainties about its financing. To support the project, Costner took out a mortgage on 10 acres of his waterfront property in California. The film explores the challenges faced by settlers expanding the American West in the late 1800s. However, this financial move might still fall short of the required funds.

Costner’s previous work in Westerns includes his Oscar-winning Dances With Wolves (1990) and his leading role in the successful five-season TV series Yellowstone. The 181-minute first part of Horizon: An American Saga, which premiered out of competition at Cannes, is set to release in North America, the UK, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands on June 28, with the second part following on August 16.
